Good News from Windsor:

After seven years with the SIU, FSW Jason Hilder is moving on to his next adventure, leaving behind an incredible impact on his team and the children and families of Windsor County. Jason’s knowledge, willingness to take on challenging cases and difficult conversations, and steadfast dedication to doing what is best for children and families have made him an invaluable member of the team, and his presence will be deeply missed. We also recognize FSW Taylor Hunter and Officer Ryan Clark for their extraordinary commitment throughout a complicated infant case. Taylor approached the case with compassion and a deep understanding of the socioeconomic, cultural, and environmental factors affecting the family, while Ryan’s persistence in ensuring the infant received specialized medical care ultimately led to the discovery of life-threatening injuries and quite literally helped save the infant’s life. FSW Melissa Scherlin and Lt. Dan Deslauriers also demonstrated outstanding teamwork and dedication during a complex physical abuse case, working countless additional hours, considering the cultural dynamics of the family, connecting the youth with Spanish-speaking resources, and going above and beyond to find a safe placement with family rather than taking the youth into DCF custody. Finally, FSW Erin Keefe demonstrated exceptional empathy, professionalism, and skill following a particularly difficult forensic interview. Erin navigated challenging conversations with a caregiver with compassion and tact, providing education and support while ensuring the needs and well-being of the child remained at the center of the case. Jason, Taylor, Ryan, Melissa, Dan, and Erin each exemplify what strong multidisciplinary collaboration looks like—bringing compassion, persistence, teamwork, and a genuine commitment to children and families to even the most difficult cases. We are incredibly grateful for their work and the difference they continue to make.
